ROCKVILLE, Md. (WUSA9) -- Two Rockville parents were charged Friday afternoon with multiple offenses, including child abuse and neglect, in connection to the death of their 10-week-old daughter.

According to Montgomery County police, Robert Alan Davidson and Lorena Thompson, both of the 200 block of East Argyle Street in Rockville, face charges in the homicide death of their daughter Aleah Thompson in June.

On June 23 at about 7:18 p.m., police say Davidson called 911 to report that Aleah Thompson was unresponsive and not breathing. She was flown to MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C., where she succumbed to her injuries on June 26.

The Chief Medical Examiner in D.C. ruled Aleah Thompson's death a homicide caused by multiple blunt force injuries.

According to police, Davidson, 24, said he was watching Aleah Thompson while Lorena Thompson was at work. He was playing video games in the living room and heard labored breathing coming from the bedroom. He entered the bedroom and found her unresponsive, attempting to resuscitate her before calling 911, police said.

In later interviews with police, Davidson admitted to dropping Aleah Thompson several times and that one time she rolled off the couch. Police say Davidson also confessed to shaking Aleah on June 23.

Prior to June 23, Davidson did not seek medical attention for the infant, police said.

During interviews with police, Lorena Thompson, 22, admitted that she noticed injuries on Aleah Thompson, including bruises, on multiple occasions and that those injuries occurred while the baby was in Davidson's care. The mother also said she did not seek medical care for her child, according to police.

Both Davidson and Lorena Thompson were arrested at their home Friday at around 12:15 p.m. Davidson has been charged with second-degree murder, first-degree child abuse resulting in death, first-degree child abuse resulting in severe physical injury, neglect of a minor, sexual abuse of a minor and second-degree sex offense. Lorena Thompson has been charged with first-degree child abuse resulting in death, first-degree child abuse resulting in severe physical injury and neglect of a minor.

Police did not release bond information about the couple.

Lorena Thompson also has a 5-year-old son who is now in the custody of his father.
