Standard Solar, Inc., a leader in the full-service development, installation and financing of solar electric systems for commercial, government and residential customers, today announced it will officially activate a 701 kilowatt solar energy system on the Rockville Ice Arena—one of the largest single rooftop solar energy systems in Maryland—on Thursday, November 18, 2010.
The system is projected to meet about 30 percent of the Arena’s annual electricity needs and will reduce carbon dioxide (CO2)-equivalent emissions by about 757 tons each year. The electricity generated by the Arena’s solar system is enough to power approximately 72 average-sized American homes for a year.
